I'm admittedly new to crock pot cooking as well. What's the advantage or strategy of only half of the meat being submerged in liquid?

Some additional liquid will come from cooking the meat and/or veggies. Too much liquid and the gravy will be bland.

Take a roast and pour 1 - 1.5 jars of the pickled pepperchinis - sp over the top. Set for low 8 hours untilt he meat is fork tender.

I've done this and it's great. I also add minced garlic along with the peppers and put some provolone on the sandwich and melt it under the broiler.

The leftovers make good enchiladas too.

They have it Whole Foods and Walmart.

Babies under 6 months of age should not have anything other than breastmilk or formula unless advised by a doctor.

Even worse than what they order is how they say it. I used to work at Mansur's and people would order the "seafood alfred-OX" (alfredeaux). :banghead:

But to answer your question:

chicken tenders
lasagna
steak - well done

Most of the meat in the US is full of antibiotics, pesticides and hormones. Often the animals are fed cannibalistic diets.

Go to WF. Look for words like "free range", "grass fed", "ranch raised", or "organic", and buy that. Always buy wild salmon too.

Since you you have kids, I'd definitely go with the organic milk products also.

When it comes to produce, I would choose local over organic, especially foods that aren't on the dirty list. There is also a list called the "Clean 15" that gives the foods that are usually low in pesticides anyway.

They have the Farmer's Market on Thursday mornings on Perkins also. LINK
