Get the ParkWhiz app. That is what I use for Astros games. Lets you reserve a spot in open lots or garages downtown.
Pappadeaux is a never miss. Go west on Westheimer past Chimney Rock. Will be on south side of the road.
Ragin Cajun is another good spot that is run by one of the Italian restaurant families - very good and casual. Lots of LSU memorabilia, including stacks of Gumbo's. Located east of the Galleria about 1.5 miles. You may want to stop into Hebert's and pick up some deboned stuffed chickens to take home. That is a Lafayette meat market with tons of great take home items - gumbo, red beans, boudin, tails, chickens, etc. Also on Richmond just East of the 610 loop on the north side.

Merida on Navigation is overlooked and very good. When turning on Navigation from Jensen Drive, first restaurant on the left. Much more traditional Mex than Ninfa's. Been going for 40 years.
