This is so stupid, I registered on this site just to respond. I don't like Miles at all, but this is just nonsense.
Gary Barnett and Les Miles IMPLEMENTED THE OPTION at Colorado in the 80s. He and Barnett studied films of all the teams that were running it and designed the offense that fit their talent. That same offense was used when CU won their national championship.
Les ran quite a bit of option as an OC at OSU in the 90s. In fact, he had Texas so screwed up in '97 with it, that he ran it with an empty backfield and the defensive end played the non-existent pitch man, resulting in a score (OSU won 42-16 by the way) and about 50,000 fans laughing their collective asses off. This story is just ridiculous.
