I played for Pell and Hall. The NCAA had a hard on for Pell since Clemson. They destroyed an incredible coach that truly cared about people. UF was doing what EVERY team was doing back then. Those Gators teams were some of the most talented but you never got to see them as they were banned from TV.

A good friend of mine was student body president in early 1990s. He was at some alumni, student government meeting. Near the end of the meeting some leader said they needed, I think $30 million for something trivial. Folks started shouting out, I’ll donate $300k, another $100k, $75k, and so on and so on. They had $15 million in about 10 minutes. My buddy said his jaw was on the floor and realized then he was playing in a different sandbox.
