yeah, i still have it. Great stuff especially the amp. Beautiful sound. The 275 your friend Richard sold me was dead mint.

We're semi retiring in a couple years and moving to a small cabin. Looking to simplify.

The line magnetic's im looking at are the 518ia and the 211ia. These are apparently 2 different style amps. the 518 class A. set. The 211 more traditional style el34 push/pull. Whatever that means. Any experience with class A? Thoughts on these 2?

Have you heard any thing about raven amps? Made in somewhere in texas. nice looking stuff.

i would be interested in anything kevin has to say. That guy's great, i've seen his video's. He could sell shoes to a snake.

You know Sean? I've seen his video's too. Another interesting guy. I hope his companies doing well. It's good to see the small guy doing well in audio. Gotta be a tough business.

Thanks again and safe travels
Hey, i'm hoping to get yall's advice and opinions.

I'm looking at integrated amps and speakers.

Amps are line magnetic, this is my first choice.
raven, prima luna, rogue. budget around <3k used. these are generally low powered. Any others i should look at?

the speakers are the hard part. budget around the same used.

im ordering the zu dirty weekend when they go on sale nov
1st to try out. cant go wrong here, seems to me.

looking at the mid range line of most of the players.
kef, dynaudio, focal, tannoy, spendor, sonus faber etc. some of these i can listen to around the b.r. area. some not

they need to be able to run on 20 to 50 watts
any ideas?

Thanks!
Marco,

He did. I spoke to him a couple days ago.
It seems like the estate wants to sell each system as
a package deal. I'm just looking for the 275. He's going to check with them and see if they'll sell the one piece. Super nice guy and knows a ton about audio.

Picked up the c50 last weekend :pimp: Waiting on the 275, then hook em all up at once for maximum effect.

Thanks again for all your help!
Marco,

Absolutely!! How can I get in contact with you or your friend?

Also, can you recommend a good, reasonable balanced cable for the mac?

Thanks!
Makin moves Marco! Makin moves.

Pickin up a mac c50 this weekend! And after much teeth gnashing and indecision, going with the mc275. Hopefully I can find a good used version 6 in about a month. I really wanted to listen to the pass xa30 bad.

I was concerned about mixing a ss pre with a tube amp but mac says no problem. Most people seem to do it the other way around

Logjam,

I had a pair of heresy 1's for about 20 years. I thought they were pretty much what most think. Great highs, pretty good mids, almost non existent bass. When I sold them I paired them with a sub to check them out, the sound was much much better. I would definitely pair them with a sub. They are also built like a tank and will last a very long time. They can play loud.

That price on the 2's seems pretty reasonable. That's about what I got for mine even after twenty years. not bad! At worst you could keep for a while if you don't like em you could probably get your money back.

Another place for a lot more info is the klipsch website forums. Helpful folks over there. They sell gear too.
Marco,

Actually, what you're saying makes a lot of sense.
I have looked at the pass xa30.5 and its received incredible reviews and the new .8 seems to be a big improvement over the earlier model. I guess my thinking was with the x250 I would be sort of future proofing myself. Class A to ten watts then A/B after with plenty power if I ever needed it.

Do you have any experience with Class A amps?
I have never heard one. You're also right 30 watts should be plenty to run the Klipsch. It's a 80 pound 30 watt amp!!

As far as the 275 goes, It's a classic and cheaper on the used market than the pass. Plus, I've always told myself before I leave this earth I have to own one piece of Macintosh gear.

Oh well, back to the research!

Thanks again for all your help.
marco, I am hoping you can give me some advice. i'm looking to upgrade my amp and preamp. My current set up is one of your side rigs I believe.

Rotel 1075 amp
Rotel 1068 pre
Klipsch epic cf-3's
Acoustic Research turntable

My choices on amps are a Mac M352 or a Pass Labs X250.5. I haven't heard the pass but have owned nakamichi gear in the past and liked it. Any thoughts on these two?

On the preamp side i'm thinking the Mac C2300 or a Cary SLP-05. Have you listened to any Cary products?
Apparently, no Cary dealers in LA.

I really like the Klipsch and the a.r. table and will keep those for as long as they hold out.

Thanks!
