what about arrested development? can't remember one serious moment off the top of my head...
2001: a space odyssey is awesome on blu-ray and a good tv

watched the show since its inception. best show on tv IMO. i loved the 1st season but this new one is shaping up to be great. the character complexity is starting to really kick in...
always thought crowe looked like bill hicks in some subtle ways. only problem for me is that i have no true sense of how crowe would do in delivering comedy when it comes to imitating hicks' standup.
i've never been a russell crowe fan so i have my doubts. but if there's anything i'd like to see him try to pull off, this would be it...

unfortunately was too young at the time. never been to the new mansur's either. any good? and if so, what kind of place it is as far as types of crowds and atmosphere (casual, formal, and whatnot)?

didn't know they did that. if so, i'll have to pay a visit.
not to venture off subject too badly, but i really dislike their new venue. i hated the fact that they got rid of that old shopping center for a wal-mart among other things. they took away a chunk of my childhood when they demolished it. my all-time favorite candy store was there... of course, this would have been more of a throwback.

i think jerry stiller as arthur is a scene stealer. almost everything he does or says is hilarious.....
i personally think judice inn's burgers are much better. a little smaller burgers but the taste beats that point out

last one: there are strong references to "the graduate" in the episode "the millenium" whenever jerry is battling to stay on his girlfriend's speed-dial against her step-mother....
apocalypse now is referenced in "the chicken roaster" when elaine needs to get j. peterman to approve of her sable hat purchase.
platoon is vaguely alluded to in "the fatigues" when frank constanza is recalling his experience as a chef in the US army in korea. complete with a song very similar to the famous barber "quartet with strings" music...
more obscurely, references to former big band drummer buddy rich's infamous temper have been replicated in lines such as "If I have to tell you again, we're gonna take it outside and I'm gonna show you what it's like!" (george in "the opposite) and "This guy - this is not my kind of guy" (frank in "the understudy").

midnight cowboy is referenced several times in "the mom and pop store"
that is not biological evolution. that is evolution in the sense of evolution of language or music.
using that definition, it would still be possible to devolve, since it is not guaranteed that it must get more advanced.

as for your examples, gymnastics and volleyball were two sports in which the us had high expectations for medalling. i think that would have more to do with it. even playing non-US-involved games would then serve to showcase their competition.
but as for the rest, i don't think there's more coverage for the women's sports :dunno:
even if so, what of it? do women's olmypics feats deserve not to be seen?
