I would like someone to explain exactly what is a unit in this play. Would it be equal to a section (640)?

I'm not really known to have patienc. Today, I was just playing around and went to haynesvilleshale.com and a map of Ft.Worth came up, It really surprised me to see the number of horizonal wells. Kind of renewed my spirits. Take a look if you have not seen it.

does anyone know if CHK is doing any drilling, there are so many small different companies, it makes it hard to know. They have alot of land leased in North Sabine Parish, but not heard of any wells being drilled.

This subject should be of intrest to people in their 50s and 60s. This is really something to think about. I do think people should pay their own way if possible. I understand the fact that they have worked all their life and do not care to give it all away to long term care. I think that long term care is redicioulsy priced expecially for the care given or not given!!

To try and avoid this situitation for our children, my husband and I took out a long term care insurance policy that pays directly to us and should cover the expense. That is something that people should look into now for the future to protect their assets for their children.

The policy cost us about $115 a month, but if nothing else, I don't feel like I'm cheating anyone. I really want my home and land and assets to stay in the family. I don't want my children to feel that they have to burden their busy life with my care. They may not be able to give me that care, who knows!!! Anyway, it's something that people need to look into now if possible. MORE INSURANCE !!!!! A little more peace of mind.

Thanks Dog,I have one more question. My son's not under production now. He has two more years on his lease with KCS. I forsee this play taking years to complete, I don't know alot about wells though. When his lease is up and if there has been no drilling in his section, do you suppose that the big bonus will be gone or if this play works, what happens to the leases that aren't produced yet? I hope I made my question clear

Does anyone know anyting about KCS drilling? I know that they have several smaller wells in Desoto. My son signed with them a year or so ago, but I have not heard their name mentioned. I think they are from Bossier.

I have to wonder why are these companis leasing up every acreage in at least 5 parishes in LA. this is not to mention counties in TX. Surley there won't be a well in every unit. I do not understand very much about leasing and the gas business, but that sure is alot of money. Are these companies just trying to be sure they have the lease in case the shale is actually larger that they think? There is going to be alot of disappointed people who don't get a well. Do you really think there will be that many wells five years from now?

Tiger Dog,

I am so glad to have found this site. About three years ago, we leased our land to Pinnical Oil out of Shreveport. Of course, we signed the normal lease of $100 per acre and 3/16 royalty. There is a producing well in my unit. I live in North Sabine about 1/2 mile from the DeSoto parish line. I am wondering, how I and many more will be affected. Several years ago, no one knew this was coming. This is just a general lease that does not mention a depth. There are several gas wells in the area. I enjoy a small royalty check every month, but nothing like what might be possible. Do larger companies usually buy out smaller ones? The wells here now are mostly above 10,000 ft. I feel that I should try and gain some knowledge and not just take an "oh well" attitude.
