What happened to Trumps promise of canceling student loans?
Posted by Trump loves Q on 11/25/25 at 10:23 pm
I still remember standing in that crowded arena at Trump’s rally back in 2016. I was drowning in student loan debt, and when he talked about fixing the “broken” student loan system, I honestly believed him. He made it sound like real relief was coming — that people like me wouldn’t be stuck paying this off for the rest of our lives. That was a big part of why I decided to vote for him.
Fast-forward to his time in office and then with his second term in full force…
and here I am, still paying the same loans, with no meaningful relief. Interest kept piling up, my balance barely moved, and there was never any broad cancellation like I thought might happen. Instead of loans going away, it felt like the goalposts kept moving while I stayed stuck in the same place.
