re: This is the most perplexing season I can remember

I'm sorry, I've been lurking on this board from time to time but I had to create an account just to say this. Just because these FEI numbers say South Carolina has had the #2 schedule so far this season, doesn't mean it is even remotely true. Back in mid August (and likely today as well), there isn't a single person in this thread who would have said South Carolina had a tougher schedule up to this point in the season than teams like Alabama (played FSU, Wisconsin and Georgia) and Georgia (played Alabama and Tennessee). They have played a terrible Virginia Tech team that got blown out by Old Dominion, an FCS team and the other 3 non-Big 6 SEC East teams. How could the schedule makers have made their schedule any easier, give them Coastal Carolina in the early season as well? Their schedule had 0 preseason ranked teams up to this point and only Missouri was receiving votes in the AP Poll. The difficult portion of their schedule hasn't even started yet with 5 current top 13 teams up next.
Meanwhile, both Vandy and Missouri had a preseason top 15 South Carolina in the early portion of their schedules. Is it their fault South Carolina has laid an egg and ruined their SOS up to this point? Maybe the blame for having a tougher early FEI SOS should be placed on teams failing to win their games and not the schedules they play.
