Can someone explain to me what the benefits of a roth IRA would be over an online savings account (if the savings acct rate was about 80 basis points higher than ira)? I was not sure how much of a tax benefits the IRA provided and was under the impression that withdrawing before a certain point woul...

Really not THAT safe. Check out the NOPD crime map. Other than Spanish Fort/bird streets, I would not feel too comfortable living anywhere else in Lakeview. The crime is obviously not even comparable to ...

If so, does it scare the hell out of you as much as it did me? I am seriously considering having my family read that thread and get them to diversify their assets accordingly and stock up on survival gear....

I agree that they have nailed this over the past year, I just get very concerned when these same people appear to be truly discussing assembling compounds, their firearms collections, and their farming abilities....

My dad didn't listen to me 3 weeks ago when I told him to move his 401k to a mma, and continued to ignore me up until last Friday. Today he said he wanted out, but it was after 3pm. Would this be the right move at the point?...

SPY is an ETF that tracks it, as is IVV from ishares. I am sure there are others. I know these two track it closely, but not exactly the same. Someone more knowledgeable may be able to explain why....

I know it is impossible to predict a bottom, but at what point would it be best to start investing. I have about 3500 that I would like to invest and another 6000 I plan on keeping in a 3% apy savings. I only want to invest in DIA or SPY at this point, but is this the level (>10,500) to start or sho...

It's nice because it is usually the same price as macro domestics on draft. I have never bought it in bottles, but I don't think I would go out of my way for it. Nothing spectacular by any means....

Is now a good time to move all of my 401k into a money market account. I have seen a 11% loss in the past year for the mutual funds I am currently invested in and I was wondering if I need to get out now and if so for how long. Just trying to get different peoples' opinions. (I am 50)...

He does know a lot about the grain markets; however, the huge returns are due to the fact that he got lucky in in his corn and soybean futures contracts early in the semester. The prices for these commodities were clearly going up but I don't think he realized how much so. Also, he traded a lot dur...
