Mexico bird hunting
Posted by OilfieldDawg on 11/3/24 at 11:32 am
Thinking about a trip next fall to Mexico for dove and quail hunting but I am concerned about safety. I think the hunting is done on private ranches which I would think would be pretty safe. My son is wanting to go to Argentina for his graduation present but I went there this fall and honestly I was a little disappointed its just pretty much the same thing every day. If anyone has experience hunting in Mexico please advise. If you know any reputable outfitters please let me know thanks.

Guys I want to say thanks for all the help, we made it there and back safely and without any major issues. The flights were brutal all fully booked but in the end it all worked out. As far as the hunting, or shooting I should say, it was awesome the birds never stop. The lodge and staff were very nice. The only complaint I have is that the non hunting time was a little boring. It was just morning hunt, wait on lunch, afternoon hunt, eat supper, go to bed. I was expecting more entertainment or culture, something. It was a little too refined for me. I guess I wanted a US type hunt with the comradery and carrying on and such with the Argentina birds. All in all a good trip. Again thanks for all the help guys.

I am packing light and doing all carry on to avoid that such thing. Trying to keep it as simple as possible.

No gun and outfitter is picking us up. We then have a 3 hour drive to lodge.

Two country boys headed to Argentina

Me and my buddy are leaving the end of this month on a dove hunting trip to Argentina. We were supposed to go last year but had to postpone due to shell shortage over there, so I think we are prepared for the actual hunt. We have the recoil pads, gloves, athletic tape, ear plugs and so forth. What I am a little concerned about is that we are just a couple of poor country boys that live on a dirt road in Misissippi that have never been much farther from home than Tennessee or New Orleans much less flown internationally. I flew to Houston once but my buddy has never been on a plane. Any tips on getting through Buenos Aires airport or what to expect at customs. Also kinda what to expect at lodge. Any thing you think we need to know would be appreciated.Thanks.
