re: Ole Miss is broke!

It looks to be much more than just a hotel.
from msstate.edu. "STARKVILLE, Miss.—A comprehensive master plan has been recently completed for a new 15-acre district featuring a boutique hotel, restaurants and retail stores on the land between the MSU campus and the Cotton District, developers announced Aug. 20. It is to be named the Crossroads District."

I do not think a hotel on campus is very unique. Ole Miss has had "The Inn at Ole Miss" for years and I would bet other schools have something similar. An entertainment area is a more recent trend. I believe State is in the process of building one of those, also.

Basketball is not winding down. The best is still to come.
I wondered the same thing. Some hotels are built that include condos where the owner can offer them for rent through the hotel when they are not staying there. Although, one might think there would not be much need outside football games, being right on campus would make them desirable.
They should earn it like everyone else!
I am surprised they have two rematches in the first round and potentially a third in the next round.

With Tulane winning their conference and rising in the rankings, it improved Ole Miss’s strength of schedule and strength of record, giving them wins over two playoff teams. They could pass Oregon who has zero wins over a playoff team.

re: Why is Ole Miss begging LSU's OC to coach their team in the Playoffs?
Posted by TreadP on 12/4/25 at 1:18 pm to Choupique19
When it became clear Kiffin was leaving, Weiss told AD Keith Carter that he was leaving but he wanted to coach Ole Miss through the playoffs if LSU would allow it and LSU allowed it. I think it is cool that Weiss has such strong connections to the players and wants to see this through. Keith Carter respects him and appreciates that he is doing this. It says a lot about how Weiss has a high character.
re: SEC allegedly working to add Clemson and North Carolina

I totally agree but would add another aspect. A lot of coaches like to schedule Miami as a recruiting benefit. Sign players from the colder states and tell them they get a free trip to Miami.
re: This is how you want a coach responding to bullshite committee rankings

Personally, while Ole Miss is in no position to be picky about its spot in the playoffs, I prefer to be seeded 5-8 to get a home game. As someone else said, the difference between a #5-6 versus #7 opponent is massive!
re: Golding way better than Lane anyway...

Obviously, Lane has head coaching experience that Pete does not. However, Pete was the bigger recruiter. When they both went to high school games, Lane would be on his phone scrolling through texts while Pete was hanging out with the high school coaches. That is just Pete's personality but that is part of why we kept most of our recruiting class and even flipped a WR from LSU. That is not a knock on Lane, just a reflection of their different personalities. Five of the top six players in Ole Miss' football's 2026 early signing day class play defense and we obviously need a lot of help on defense!
It was a meeting with the players' Leadership Council.
Was Al Davis Right About Kiffin?

from ESPN
Lane Kiffin will always regret it if he quits on his Ole Miss team.
He'll always have remorse if he decides to go take another job -- Florida or LSU -- right on the verge of leading a likely 11-1 Rebels team into the College Football Playoff. He'll never live down the fact he turned his back on a locker room ready to fight with him for a national title -- all for the perceived greener grass of Gainesville or Baton Rouge.
What kind of coach would do that?

re: Ole Miss to have a march for Lane today

It must be a double secret hush hush protest because I live in Oxford and no one here is talking about it.

The opinion of one poster does not represent "Ole Miss fans".

I had a blast at the Florida game Saturday, just like I have at every Ole Miss home game. I am so appreciative of everything Lane has done for us. If he feels another school would be better for him and his family, I support that. We all must seek our own happiness. He has proven that Ole Miss is a great place for a coach and I know our Athletic Director Keith Carter is on top of things. None of this detracts my enjoying an amazing ride and I hope to attend a playoff game in Vaught.
More than half of W Virginia players ejected
Posted by TreadP on 11/14/25 at 7:50 pm
Duke and West Virginia are playing a women’s basketball game tonight. All but five of the West Virginia players were ejected so W V only has five players and it is just the 3rd quarter. WV leads #15 Duke 44-32.
Some coaches might hesitate to join a program where the Athletic Director, who would usually be their new boss, is locked out of the hiring process.
"Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry just said at a press conference that LSU athletic director Scott Woodward will NOT be hiring LSU’s next football coach. It will be LSU’s Board of Supervisors."

re: The reality of Lane to Florida

His son Knox moved to Oxford and plays for Oxford High. His daughter is a junior at Ole Miss. He and his ex-wife have reconciled and she moved to Oxford. His brother has a house right behind Lane's. I think the death of both of his parents really affected Lane. He gave up alcohol and said he wants to be there for his family. There is no question that today's Lane is very different from the old Lane.,
