Sometimes I see people struggle with a set up freezing up and Almost always comment about “ it worked last time with the is same size tank and regulator” or “one time it did this”. The one variable I haven’t seen or heard anyone mention is the temperature outside. I am one of 4 guys that run annual fish fries for our knights of Columbus council during March and April. We will run nine pieces of frying equipment to serve 1000 plates in three hours. Depending on the temperature outside, we may never have to swap tanks, if it’s still cool weather, there have been fish fries where each piece of equipment needed a tank swapped out during the event… Sometimes it’s only two or three pieces of equipment.

For those of you having issues with your regulator freezing up, it could definitely be too high of a flow rate for too long of a time.…… Or it might simply be the fact that your weather is cooler this time versus the last time that it worked perfectly. This is such a variable in our annual fish fries that we actually have it in our event log to have extra tanks on standby depending on the anticipated temperature outside.
