The owner/operator of this establishment also indicated she recently bought a used vehicle herself for $XX,000 but the seller agreed to write the BOS for $X,000.
That's called a "disguised donation", and I wouldn't want to be in that notary's shoes if someone found out.

I also took the 4 part exam in 2013.
I passed the notary exam back in '14 (the second time I took it).
Back then it was still the 4 part exam:
1. 100 question multiple choice
2. 10 question legal research
3. Written scenario—this one was usually the killer since they gave you a story of what your client needs and you have to draft the document(s)
4. Mini-scenario — they give you a little story then each question changes some of the facts and you have to pick the answer that best handles the situation. This was the part that failed me the first time and I didn't do so well the 2nd though I did pass.
