re: Base Flood Elevation??

Posted by TeeA86 on 12/26/23 at 11:06 am to
Thank you everyone!

While getting quotes on flood… I’m going to try to do the elevation cert and LOMA. Literally two block over is not a flood zone with an elevation of 4.8 and an older part of the neighborhood. It’s just frustrating.

Two of my neighbors were given 45 days from their mortgage company. There is no day requirement on the letter my mortgage company sent. I don’t want to drag my feet with it though.

Base Flood Elevation??

Just received notice from mortgage company that I need to add flood insurance. I am kind of confused on elevations. FEMA has my home at 3.8. 1984 plans of neighborhood have my elevation at 5.5. 2010 survey when purchased notes that elevation is over 5.0. What is an elevation certificate? What exactly is a LOMA? Can those two help with an exemption to the requirement? My neighbors are paying over $2400 a year for flood.

I will start doing this. Issue it the public adjuster told me not to context my insurance company and let them handle it. Thing is I don’t think they are handling it.

Thank you!

I have kids… I’m great at ignoring little aholes. lol! #joking

I’ve heard of that attorney’s office. I know for sure they handle auto accidents. I’ll do some digging in recovery experience. Our area hasn’t had this kind of damage in over a decade.

You are appreciated! Thank you!

I reported Southern Fidelity back in October. Just received their report Tuesday.

After the new year… if the public adjuster hasn’t completed their estimate, I will see if I can file a complaint against them.

Thank you!

Mortgage company was a hurdle I wasn’t expecting. The person that is managing my funds is in Chicago so it’s not like I can go pick up a check.

If I get a contractor to come out… I can’t get a quote. At this point… I’m YouTubing “vinyl siding installation”

Yes it does suck!!

Thank you!

That is why I hired the public adjuster and it feels like they are the same as insurance company. Almost two months have passed and no estimate completed by my public adjuster.

Thank you!

Issue with the PA is they are the owners. No supervisors. A lawyer is definitely on the table.

I appreciate your reply.

Thank you! Loading hypothetical nuts. Lol!!!

I’ve been trying to be understanding with the amount of damage we’ve had down here. I will let them enjoy their Christmas… and then start my squeaky wheel.

Hurricane Ida Recovery

Posted by TeeA86 on 12/23/21 at 8:39 pm
Hello

I live in Houma and had a lot of damage from Hurricane Ida. Southern Fidelity made first payment 31 days after field adjuster came out. I did see some posts mentioning 30 day mark required for payment but I thought the insurance commissioner extended it to 60. Any insight?

I was having extreme difficulty with my desk adjuster. Would not call me back or email me back. No correspondence whatsoever following initial payment. I must say I received more than enough to start interior - $50,000 but my mortgage company is holding it. I was trying to get mold mitigation estimate approved with no luck. Just last week I paid out of pocket $5000 and praying I get reimbursed. Roof is done. Home completely gutted. Can I start the Sheetrock with exterior siding and vapor barrier missing?

Issue… on October 29, I signed a contract with a public adjuster. They have not completed their estimate. And now they will not reply to email request for an update. I was told on November 30, completing repairs without insurance approval could result in them not reimbursing. Example… 10 window replacement = $5300. Insurance only gave me $1000. Vinyl siding estimates running anywhere between $15000 - $21000. Insurance sent about $5000. I feel like I can’t start sheetrock until siding is done but at this point, we might have to.

Any advice? Kind of nervous to complain to insurance commissioner about PA - if it’s even an option. If they cancel the contract and they can for any reason… I will owe them for any work they’ve done even if it doesn’t consist of increase to my claim amount. November 30, PA said estimate should be done in two to three days. Last Thursday, they said estimate should be complete by Friday. Tuesday I asked for update and asked if mold mitigation invoice was sent to insurance company. No response. Today sent email saying I know how busy they are but to not receive any response is disheartening. No response. Do I need to ease up and trust this process?
