This is what happens to those who can’t football.
if they ever do get football right, i wonder if they've built up the ego so much that it'd begin to piss of the baseball program. Granted, more football revenue = more revenue for everybody.

Is he coming straight from the UT Fan event?
i know we just had that convo in the other thread about this, but how funny would it be if he signed that faux lifetime contract and hopped a plane to Baton Rouge as soon as he left lmao

But there were a lot of people from St Louis and Kansas City there wearing orange.
i don't think he'll leave Tennessee for a lot of this specifically. they had a goddamn vol walk for him in Omaha, Nebraska. He's the king of Knoxville right now, and a baseball coach has never had that type of treatment there. Bruce Pearl might be the last guy there period that has. Dude's got it made, and I don't know how he'd handle the massive shift in expectations at a place like LSU

It's absolutely a shot at them. He's also hijacked a good portion of their fanbase too.
i'd be interested to see the UTvUM series if it was in columbia this past season if this is the case
one thing that i thought was interesting in his interview was him talking about Tennessee taking a chance on him when even his Alma Mater wouldn't.
I know there aren't many of them, but for the Missouri Baseball fans out there that has to be a punch in the nuts lol

or maybe he just really likes BBW's

I was a teenager during that time, so dont really remember Skip acting like the players..
idk if you've noticed the trend of college sports, but being a players coach is becoming ever more popular.

You're telling me that an elite coach would make any "high-major" team THE program?
How many "THE" programs can there be at one time? Come on, dude. Don't pretend there isn't a major difference at a place like LSU.
Texas and LSU are the premier programs in baseball, much like Alabama football or Kentucky basketball. But any program with the resources can become dominant. don't be naive about that.

An elite coach here would make LSU the program of college baseball again, in my opinion.
that's true of pretty much any high-major school

That's as beta as it gets
i'm not the one playing lmao. if i'm on MLB the show 21 yea I want a challenge, and when i played i wanted a challenge. as a fan? frick that, just win baby

Disagree
The more programs invested in CBB the better the sport will become.
better for the sport, yes. but the path of least resistance is better for winning

Funny lsu hires vandys coach then vandy will need a coach hmmm
Vandy having that scholly advantage makes them attractive to any and everybody.

I know baseball is different with all the unwritten rules of etiquette, but we're all classless

5-8 years down the road, we’re all going to say, “Man I’m glad TV never became our baseball coach.” Tom Herman 2.0
I'm not sure he's Herman 2.0. Winning at Houston in football is a hell of a lot easier than winning 50 games at the worst SEC Baseball program there is only 4 years after you arrive there. I think he will take whatever team he's at to a national power status. Tennessee being added to the already massive list of those types of teams in the SEC isn't good for any of us.
Tony Vitello is all but off the board.

yeah i think the number was 35 million in renovations. i don't know what could be added on to what they have now, or if they'd have to tear it all down. they can get to the middle with 35 mil if they can add on, but it'll still be bad if they have to tear down the current place.
i talked about this with someone else here, Tennessee is in a bad spot. Fans are fed up with the AD, and they're rabid. If they lose Vitello, then there will be a revolt like Kiffin's move to USC brought. So I think they'll pay more than what we're willing to admit.. which is why i think Tony is playing the waiting game.

absolutely. but there are a lot of damn fools out there. some people just like where they live, have families, etc. I think Tony is unmarried, but my dad passed up raises at least 3 times when i was a kid because it involved a serious move

this doesn't bode well. his press conference after the loss made me think he was considering LSU. Comments like this make me think he's happy where he's at. who fricking knows at this point. i wouldn't be surprised if they revived Connie Mack from the dead and hired him

The president of the school is a billionaire and a baseball fan, owns the Tennessee Smokies minor league club. Himself and several of their boosters are pretty much funding this themselves. Hear their AD doesn't deal with Jimmy Sexton clients though, so that'll be interesting.
