re: Jacob Blake’s family speaks (video)

People are burning their city down for someone who had an active felony warrant for sexual assault. They started rioting before they even knew the facts. Facts that they still won't listen to. The man refused to comply. He already had a knife and ran to his car to recover a gun. There were children in the car. If the suspect had shot one of those children...who would be to blame? The police for not apprehending him. And yet the police are still the problem. Damed if they do, damned if they don't. Why are we not holding criminals accountable? I am so sad for this country. This was written by a LEO:
Some information that has emerged:
Jacob Blake had a lengthy criminal record,
Jacob Blake was involved in the radio call police were handling,
Jacob Blake had previous weapons violations that officers were aware of,
Jacob Blake had an active felony warrant for his arrest,
Jacob Blake appeared to be holding a karambit (a curved, Filipino knife), and officers can be heard saying “drop the knife,”
Jacob Blake told officers (who were trying to arrest him for the warrant) that he was leaving and if they tried to stop him, he’d shoot them,
Jacob Blake did not follow any of officers’ commands and instead leaned into his vehicle, conceivably to recover a gun,
Jacob Blake had been tasered by officers (which was ineffective) during a violent brawl with officers.
Yet the media - both mainstream and social - have again painted this incident as “police unnecessarily killing a Black man.”
No.
I would retort that this is another incident of a “Black man involved in criminal behavior and unnecessarily ignoring lawful commands.”
Ronald Reagan once said that “it is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his own actions.”
Has America reached a point where it’s no longer enough that a criminal threatens to shoot police officers, but that officers must first allow the criminal to retrieve a gun and start shooting before defending themselves?
Or has America reached a point where the mere presence of a criminal’s children in his car can provide the criminal a “shield” from which under he can launch an attack against officers?
Jacob Blake was shot because of the choices he made. Jacob Blake’s kids were in his vehicle at the time he was shot because of the choices he made. Those are facts.
Anybody who disputes that is empowering criminals and excusing them for their own behavior which across the board is the impetus for very nearly every one of these incidents, one after the other.
