Should we care what an eighteen year old athlete thinks? Should we care what any eighteen year old thinks? They can't even legally by alcohol.

It is being thrown in our faces. Sports is a place where we can enjoy something separate from politics and social justice. Can't we just enjoy the damn game.

That is the problem. They won't be able to express themselves as they see fit. They will only be allowed to use socially acceptable PC patches.
