Hi all, just an update regarding the pairing of MADM760 with McLaughlin and MKT701 with Khan.

I ended up with an A in both, barely squeaking by in MADM760 w/ a 90.35 and a 93.75 in MKT.

MADM760: the first 3 tests were seemingly confusing on purpose, lots of double negatives and obscure references, but the last test was SUPER EASY (everyone in our GroupMe agreed), and with those points combined w/the pretty easy discussion & current event paper points, seemed to ensure getting at least a B in that class if you tried. The class is broken up into groups by last name, and it SEEMED like the coach for my group graded maybe a bit easier than the coach in my friends group, but we both ended up passing so yay. I do recommend McLaughlin, even though I guess I'm really recommending my coach, because I don't even know what the teacher does--there are no videos or anything and the coaches grade everything.

MKT701: I really loved this class and loved the professor. He seems to care A LOT. There are videos, 3 project/paper type things that he COMPLETELY spells out--if you make a bad grade on these then you are totally not trying--each point section has an explanation of what he is looking for. He goes over the tests sort of and in my class ended up curving 3 times, I think because some questions on the tests hardly anyone got the right answer on. The final is worth 50 points and is a case study, and you are allowed to use notes. He is very passionate and I learned a LOT. I HIGHLYYYYYY recommend Dr. Khan.

For both classes I printed out the slides and took notes from the book (and Dr. Khan's videos) on the printed out slides. MADM760's book resources included little practice tests, and I made flashcards of those and kind of tried to flesh out the answers so I would understand why the right answers were right. Idk how much that helped for MADM760, but in MKT701 those notes were awesome when it came time for the final!

TL/DR: you can take both these classes (if they are with these professors) and do just fine :)
haha too late! I'll prepare myself mentally--thank you for the info :)

Hi Duke! I'm taking Imran Khan--I've read good things about him, but by the time I registered there were very few classes left so I was going to take him no matter what haha. Who did you have?

Edit--just saw your answer up there...thanks for the info! :)

Thank you so much for this detailed answer! I have Erin McLaughlin for MADM760 and Imran Khan for MKT701, did you have either of them?

I probably won't be able to do much during my working hours, and my kids are old now so I don't have to take care of them and my mornings/evenings/weekends are free. I like to get things done on the front end, so I'm pretty sure I'll be ok.

I'm also relieved to hear you took 2 classes per session while working FT, the person I spoke with said this was also discouraged. I'm probablyyyyyyy older than the average student haha so less responsibilities, I guess they have to say that so people are prepared for the work.

Thanks again! Your answer was really encouraging

Hi Conscious Gal, how did the pairing of MADM701 & MKT701 go? I have that same combo for Spring AP1 and the advisor or whoever she was said those were the 2 most time-consuming classes and advised against taking them together. So now I'm a little nervous :/
