re: Farmington NM Duck Hunting

Thanks, everyone for the help. Lots of great input. We're also discussing going up to Durango, CO (about an hour north) because one of my coworkers is from there and knows some good spots. I'll take pics and let y'all know how it goes.
Farmington NM Duck Hunting

New to TG and the OB, so take it easy if I break any rules.
I am going out to Farmington, NM in a little over a week for work, and I'm looking to do some duck hunting while I'm out there (Oct 15-30). The northwest corner of NM where Farmington lies is in the Pacific Flyway North Zone, so the season starts earlier (Oct 19). I've looked into my options for public land to hunt pretty extensively, but I haven't come up with anything definite. I've heard that the San Juan river, a wildlife area north of town, and the Navajo Nation can have pretty good showings, but does anyone have any tips/tricks for navigating the area? Also, I don't want to get in trouble due to ignorance, so if you know of any rules/regulations I need to know before accessing public lands, I'd greatly appreciate it.
