Tank123, I took Kungu and experienced nitpicking with a coach named Alvarez (I think that was his name). He deducted points for being one line short of a page. I sent Kungu an email with the assignment attached stating what happened and asked for him to review the paper himself. He ended up giving me all of my points back. I had the same academic coach for another class first but didn’t speak up and I regret that.

Yes, there is a degree audit page which lists each of the required areas for graduation. Each required area has a gpa and the total gpa for LSUS courses is at the bottom of the audit. Courses taken outside of a required area or after a requirement is met are listed as completed courses not counted toward gpa in the degree audit. When you graduate, your diploma and transcripts just say MBA and the completed date. There are no concentrations or specializations listed. You can request a letter from the school stating your concentration and/or specialization. I haven’t had to do that. I had to submit unofficial transcripts for jobs that I have applied for.

A concentration requires the completion of three specific courses and a specialization requires two specific courses and an elective. The courses in your concentration or specialization are included your gpa. I completed my LSUS MBA with General area but I completed the required courses for the HR concentration and the project management specialization. All of my courses were not included in my gpa. Upon completion of each of the two project management courses that I took, I was able to take and pass the CAPM and CLP certification exams. Yesterday I had my first interview for a program manager for training and development job which combines the hr and project management knowledge.

@mizzou_hoss In the past, ISDS 715 has been offered in the Spring. If you saw the course being offered at another time and it is full, contact your MBA advisor and ask to be added to the course. After taking ISDS 715 with Hennigan, I was able to pass the CAPM exam online offered through the Project Management Institute.

I took Lin for ISDS 705. When I took it, there was no group project and no interaction whatsoever. The grade consisted as 3 exams. The readings were very technical and the test were detailed with trivia. One sheet of notes front and back was allowed for the tests.

@Menance1069 I agreed with all of comments about MADM 715 with Amy Wren. I had a high B going into the final exam. The final project bumped my grade up to an A. Those exams had very detailed trivial information on them. I am not convinced that the course reading aligned with the exams especially after the open book exam for week 5. There was a lot of information about suing companies and making a case which was not relevant to me. I am not lawyer and I don’t plan on seeing the inside of a courtroom. There was not enough information about how to comply with the law from a management or hr perspective in my opinion. Those readings should have been edited. Adding comments to a published article does not make her a co-author. I thought the final project was a waste of time because I would never have to do that for a job. As far answering emails, I saw that she sent a lot of emails to the class telling people not email her and she complained about her workload too much. Unfortunately the other professor, could teach the course days before it started so I ended up in Wren’s class.

Kendall, used chapters from different sources. The course notes were unorganized, repetitive, and contained mathematical errors. You have to check the class modules frequently during the week for corrections.

Acct 701 with Huang was a good class. She explained most concepts very clearly in her notes. I wish she would’ve included transcripts with the videos because they were difficult to understand. I didn’t bother with the chapter readings unless I needed additional clarification. The homework problems were helpful in preparing for the test. Start the final project as soon as possible to avoid feeling overwhelmed by the directions. It is simple as soon as you start completing the sections. I had pare down some of the information that I had so it would not be too long.

I took Kungu for MADM 701. I bought the book and read the chapter summaries and practice questions. It is the same material that Kimberly Williams uses for MADM 720.

Hello, I took MADM 720 with Kimberly Williams and ISDS 730 with Mike Loughrin. Both are great classes and organized. Start the leadership portfolio project early for MADM 720. Complete as many sections as you can during the first two weeks of class when the course reading as not as heavy. Then, fill in the leadership questionnaire write ups section as you go. Mike Loughrin has short interesting readings and videos. Be mindful of the details for the weekly exams. The quizzes are straightforward. I was able to take and pass the Lean Certification exam an hour after I took the final exam for the class. There is group project which is a simulation. Very little information is given about it. Google the name of the simulation to find strategies to help you succeed in your role and for team strategies. You don’t have to win the game to pass the course. It does not impact your grade. You do receive credit for submitting your weekly individual and team reports. Our team took turns leading the team meetings. The leader wrote drafts of the team report, scheduled the meeting and conducted the meeting. During the meeting the team would discuss their section of the report and suggested revisions to the report. Meet with your team early during the week but make sure everyone has read the material and prepared drafts. Use google docs or a similar app to prepare the draft of the team report.
