Don’t buy it. Go for the smokeware cap at about half price. Haven’t used the new egg cap, but the smokeware cap works pretty good. I wish I’d gotten sooner....

The standard cap does suck, which is why it’s perfect to convert it to a Smobot, and buy the smokeware cap for everyday cooking. No issues with the Smobot being overly gunked to hinder performance; they tell you to pry it loose before the cook but I didn’t last time and had no issues.

Smobot. Looked at them for years and finally bought one a year ago. Initially thought I wanted a fan, but after reading about them on different forums I decided on the Smobot. I’m within +/- 5-7 degrees throughout a cook (alarm set at 10 and its never gone off). My longest cook was about 12 hours...
