Hey NSAtoMBA, did you ever attend the ring ceremony? Or has anyone?
Could you please send me the syllabus too!??

How is the workload? I need to take my family on a trip over the kids' spring break. I'm planning to pair Choi's FIN 701 with Yin's ACCT 701 and I need to anticipate how many hours of work those two classes are. 3 chapters sounds like a lot of reading. My trip will be in week 3 of the classes, so if anyone has insight on the week 3 workloads of those two professors, I would greatly appreciate it. It will be my final session, and after working so hard to maintain my 4.0, I would hate to jeapordize it in the final stretch.
The work load seems pretty light to me. Not to say the class is easy, it's just structured efficiently without any busy work. I could see pairing this class, especially if you have previous accounting knowledge. Each week is from one to three chapters, it's not three chapters each week. Our week three was three chapters though.
Congrats on that 4.0. If I was riding into my last session with that I'd take the extra 7 weeks and not risk it. That is quite an accomplishment. If I had a 3.0 I probably wouldn't care and just get the degree done and pair the last two classes. Yin's weekly tests only have 9 questions, so each one is pressure packed. You can go from a 100 to a 70 in the blink of an eye.

How is Yin's class set up each week? Are you allowed more than one try on quizzes? Are tests a reflection of an assignment that you complete or based off reading? Is there a fair amount of math/Excel involved or is it predominantly conceptual?

How are weekly tests in Yin Yuan's Acct 701 set up? Is there an assignment that you complete and then use to answer the test questions? Any additional information into this professor is sincerely appreciated!
Each week covers from one to three chapters. Each week has one quiz and one assessment. You only get one try at a quiz. The tests reflect a combination of the reading, powerpoint lectures (~one hour), and practice exercises. There is a fair amount of math, they aren't complex equations but you'll have to understand the accounting concepts in order to solve them. Excel isn't technically required but if you're good at using it and building dynamic worksheets, you'll have a much easier time.
I would definitely recommend Yin's class, the structure is great, no busy work, and I'm learning a lot.
I'm in Yin's ACCT. This is my first class in the program, but her workload seems very reasonable. 7 weekly quizzes and 7 weekly assessments (Proctorio). Then a final exam at the end. Each week covers 1-3 chapters with a recorded lecture that's around an hour.
My only complaint is that you aren't allowed to know what questions you missed on the assessments. Since this is my first class I'm not sure if that's an overall LSUS policy or just hers.
If I'm sure an answer is correct, and it isn't, but I'm not able to know which ones I missed or the correct answer, how can I possibly grasp what concepts I’m not picking up on? I couldn’t imagine being in a physical classroom and the teacher not letting us review what questions we missed.

Was anyone able to join Yin's ACCT 701 Zoom meeting last night?
