It's only being "pushed down the throats" of people who can swallow only that which is just like them and gag at anything different from what they think of as the norm because difference scares them and makes them feel insecure. This is in comparison to the tens of millions of people who have multiracial and same-sex couples in their lives and are perfectly comfortable with it. So if you aren't, what that says is about you, not about the people being portrayed.
