4. I actually know for a fact from an SEC staffer involved in the negotiations that up until the very last minute, the SEC was very close to extending the offer to Georgia Tech rather than Mizzou. They ultimately went with Mizzou.
This is inaccurate. Georgia Tech was not in the fold. Nor was West Virginia, which has been speculated. If in fact we did not get Missouri, our lone target at the time, we would have gone with a 13 school roster and done creative scheduling.
