I find all of your comments interesting. I suspect I am a lot older than all of you. I as an adult read this series and enjoyed it. I find it ironic you mentioned Star Wars which Lucas himself has described as a Western movie set in space. Having read fans books for over 50 years, I can tell you that most have elements of other books or movies. If you read a book with Orcs in it, we'll according to your viewpoint it would be a ripoff. What about dragons. Penns dragons aren't the first. Had the script actually followed the book, it would have been more of a success. I see movies come out and people think them great success. In reality often they are word for word remakes of old movies made in the 30s or 40s. Originality is in the way a story unfolds and the characters it develops. If you are always comparing your fans books, you will find your favorite author will always win. Try to ready books with an open mind. You will enjoy them more
