The wealthy planter class is the ones who held slaves but the majority in the South were dirt poor, many sharecroppers. These people had no slaves, so they would have not fought in this war.
One component later in the war was slavery but slavery didn't start the war. It was Northern aggression. The North wanted the cotton grown in the South for a pittance and planned to tax Southern planters. That's what began the revolt.
That is YOUR opinion and you don't get to decide for the rest of us. My 17 yr old GGF fought in this war and I will honor him for his service. Not only that but I will see that proper history is disseminated on public forums and on down to younger generations of my family.
