Are you mentally deficient? Why would I take the bet when I've already acknowledged that Miles might end up at a trash P5 program like Purdue?

because thats why its called "gambling?" how about if he goes to a "trash" program you only have to pay me 50

quote:

Now if you want to bet that Miles is hired by an ELITE program, I'll take that.

as i said in another thread, theres only like 10-15 elite programs. of those 10-15 elite programs the only ones that may have job openings are ND and PSU (and LSU)

so if you want me to bet you that Les gets 1 of only like 2 jobs, then yah, I can see why you would want to make that bet. but no, im good.

Les will get another job, at a P5 school, and it will not be some "trash" program.

I really hate that you are making me have to defend Miles, but I cannot ignore your stupidity.
"Dear fricking Moron..."

Thanks for reminding me which conference Purdue is in.

Are you always so obtuse?

If you think Miles ends up at some bottom feeder like KU or Oregon st or vandy, you are the moron.

Again, I am not a Miles defender. But his resume speaks for itself. Some school desperate enough will get him (looking at you, Notre Dame)

So will you take the bet or not?
I sure as hell hope not, if they are then the problem on this team extends far beyond the former head coach.

It becomes infinitely harder to attack a defense inside the 20. LSU's redzone D has been solid all year. They weren't "lucky".

RZ defense is not a very good metric. If LSU allows bama or ole miss or aTm 6 trips into the red zone they will be in deep poo.

Keeping a team OUT the redzone is a far better metric and measure of a quality defense.

CEO will have the kids hyped and can recruit like a boss.

You are aware that LSU just fired a guy whose best attributes were considered recruiting and motivating his players ??
quote:

If he goes back into coaching, it will be at a second tier school like Purdue or UCF. No elite programs are going to hire that guy.

I'll bet you $100 he is coaching at a P5 school next season. I'm not even a Miles fan, but this statement is stupid.

You can send me a private message for my paypal.

Then he should have prepared his team to be able to march 75 yards in just over two minutes with a timeout to boot

It was 2:56 and 2 timeouts. Dont try to sugarcoat it ;)

So they better get this right as we only have one chance.

Which is PRECISELY why you don't become a victim of the moment and hire Orgeron because he has a nice run with this team and talks funny.
Based on what?

What suddenly makes a man who won 3 games as HC at ole miss more qualified than a Jimbo, or Stoops, or Shaw, or even Herman, who has a smaller sample

I am rooting for LSU to win out, but you can mark this post as the first place you heard that the day the interim title is taken off is when this board implodes.

Plenty of coaches who underachieve get fired mid season.

to expound on that, while everyone was gushing over all the gossip Skip was dishing out, everyone seemed to miss one REALLY important thing skip said.

he talked about how he wanted Meyer but Meyer had already been hired at UF.

why was that? because UF's AD got the jump on everyone else by firing Zook midseason in 2004.

sure would be history repeating itself if Meyers understudy was hired by a program that fired its previous coach midseason.
he is like 10th on my list, but in his defense, he has improved every year while there.
eh....

I'll be pretty let down if LSU doesn't land Herman.

and to your point about Les, I will agree, the buck stops with him, which is why he was fired, but I am just sick of reading over and over about how Miles boring offense couldn't get it done. Etling threw 27 passes vs. Auburn, and 30 vs. Ms St.

for the first time that I can ever remember , I was yelling at my TV for LSU to run the ball more. it was like watching bizarro LSU.
just playing devils advocate here, but LSU also gave up nearly 400 yards and made White Sean look like a pretty good QB (19/26, 240, 0 INTs)

re: TCU thrilled to have Diarse.

how do you possibly read my post and take from it that I am defending Les?

All I am saying is the Big XII is a pass happy league where 4000 yard passers is commonplace and defense is optional.

Its pretty apparent some of you are still pretty traumatized by the whole Miles era.

Secondary was disappointing Saturday. Jackson and Tolliver look lost a lot of the time.

Tolliver didn't play, did he?

no , hes just become the latest whipping boy for this board now that they have moved on from bashing Drop-ree.

They jog everywhere. Dural was jogging to the line over and over again.

The Special Teams were jogging on that Missi. St. onside kick that they lost. Everyone has been listless, not getting set, and has had no intensity/fire.

I don't get it.

not making excuses, but LSU is on its 3rd WR coach in 3 years.

my #taeks from Saturday:

Pocic had an absolutely forgettable game, but his buddies on the OL did not do much better.

the Pass:Run was 2:1. thats not Les Miles football.

how does fournette have 7 carries in the first half? how does this happen? LSU has 4 running backs on its roster. Fournette should have at least double this number, and then have Guice/Williams/Brosette come in in the second half and make teams succumb to the run game, while punishing them with explosive plays in the passing game.
but if LSU is gonna go the cheaper route , why not go cheaper on an up and comer like jeff brohm or venables, the DC at clempson ?

Diarse only caught 3 passes his first two games with the Frogs but has had 13 in the last two and become a favored target of the TCU Qb, Hill.

For perspective, he caught 28 passes in two years with the Tigers.

For perspective, he played against actual defenses in two years with the Tigers.

I wish him nothing but the best, but you must not watch a lot of Big XII football.
Stanford has impossibly high academic standards to contend with and plays ND and USC annually.

Michigan State also has to play two other schools on that list, every year, and Dantonio is constantly praised as an "overachiever". nothing about that job is glamorous or desirable.

TCU is an interesting one, as they made the jump to the Big 12 recently. but you are talking about a team that was left out the BCS title game after going undefeated in the last 15 years. maybe in another decade one of the programs I listed falls off and TCU makes the jump.
what is the status of Toliver?

11. Michigan
12. Auburn

18. Virginia Tech
19. Nebraska
20. Wisconsin
21. Arkansas
22. Oregon
23. Oklahoma State
24. UCLA
25. Pittsburgh

two things about this list. first, its wrong. second, i think more importantly, this list highlights that there really aren't more than like 10-15 GREAT jobs. I mean, okie joke? pittsburgh?

in no particular order
UT
USC
tOSU
Michigan
Bama
LSU
UGA
UTK
ND
FSU
Miami
Penn St
UF
OU
and the most recent addition, Oregon.

other than that is Virginia Tech REALLY a better job than Nebraska, is Arkansas REALLY a better job than Wisconsin? I'm sure BERT would say so, but beyond those 15 I listed, I think youre in an entirely different tier. some will probably argue the 15 i listed could be in separate tiers but I would say those are the most desirable jobs in FBS.
