Funny thing was she stuck with me. Did not move on. There were other guys there, she would not have struck out too many times. We are guys. Like fish in a barrel.

Maybe it was your charm. You were interested enough to continue the conversation for half an hour with no silent treatment.
Sometimes people would say "hunh?" when I said U.S. if their English wasn't great. America seemed to work best in general in my experience. I noticed a lot of people acted like they never heard of New Orleans when I said that was where I was born, when they were asking about my accent. They all heard of California and usually got really happy about it. Some were wearing San Francisco shirts, so it was easy to say I was from there.
Even if I secretly supported Trump, California doesn't feel like a safe space to express that.
I got a rebel flag blanket right before they stopped selling them at all the major places online.

I loved all the museums in Chicago. I also loved Chinatown. I agree with previous posts that the Shedd Aquarium is overrated. They have beluga whales there, but Sea World is way better. I noticed I compare every aquarium to Audubon. I think the only one I thought could compete with it is the one in Monterey, California.
Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre, a studio tour. You can go to WB and even get tickets to a live show, like Ellen.
I also vote for Portland. They have city stuff and amazing breweries, but the nature is awesome too.

I went to Notre Dame and Sacre-Couer when I was in Paris. Natives recommend Sacre-Couer more often. I loved Notre Dame though and had an interesting conversation with one of the priests while I was there.

I used to be a therapist for someone who is from there. They're really into their religion, and there's not a lot of room for anyone else. The lady I worked with was super cool and a free spirit. They kinda hated her and made her suffer on the regular for being Buddhist, among other things.
