Any mention about former owner of Hunters Run selling the land to WBR sheriff years back? I've spoken to him a few times in past about his plans to relocate. Selling the land, leasing it back, with plan to relocate, would make sense on why it was not well maintained.
Kickstarter funds are not a donation. You are paying for something in advance. In this case he is selling product and/or events at certain values. One may argue on the values but they seem to be reasonable. The idea is for his future customers in the community to "invest now" to help jump start revenue ahead of opening doors.
