Vegas odds for 2017

Vegas has us going 8-8 (weak 16 is a pk) at best....

IMO we will go 10-6, we beat the Vikings (AP goes off on his old team like Hightower did against the Cards) and Bills against the spread.
IMO....most expected to get a pass rusher. I'm not excited about the pick because of his hamstring issues (that doesn't go away) and it's hard to criticize the pick because of his perceived value (athletic ability/potential).

Just kind of meh about him....That being said, I hope he turns out to be as good as advertised. Let's just go with cautiously optimistic.

11: R1P11 DE Derek Barnett Tennessee
32: R1P32 CB Tre White LSU
42: R2P10 RB Joe Mixon OU
76: R3P12 S Marcus Williams Utah
103: R3P39 OT Will Holden Vandy
If we are going to look at draft bust....we should also consider the worst FA signing in history was a DB.

Nnamdi Asomugha, Philadelphia Eagles (2011)
Asomugha was coming off three consecutive Pro Bowl seasons with the Oakland Raiders when he signed a five-year, $60 million deal with the Eagles, whose offseason roster overhaul inspired backup quarterback Vince Young to call the Eagles a "Dream Team." Asomugha was the top free-agent player available in 2011, but the move didn't pay off in Philadelphia. The Eagles were 12-20 in the two seasons with Asomugha on the team, and he was released following the 2012 season. Asomugha played one more season in the NFL in 2013 with the San Francisco 49ers, but the career of one of the top cornerbacks in the league crashed and burned in a hurry after leaving Oakland.

This at #42! :usa:
Nevermind this about Talib...

But sitting out for three weeks midseason kept him out of the top five. Talib was at his best prior to his back injury

And where is Butler? I understand this may not be a perfect CB rating...How can anyone say Butler is not a gamble anymore than a draft pick? FA signings bust as much as draft picks...have we forgot about Byrd?

FYI: just asking who has Butler rated as a top 10 CB?

He is not worth the contract he wants plus whatever the trade compensation is.

Yeah, Ok, no smoke screen here. They will take Mixon at 4 if he is there.
No way CSP will go 3 straight D players!

We go WR/RB/TE at 42

and plenty of upper end CB picks that have been total flops or not starter material... a quick review of recent upper end 1st Rd failures- 2015 #11 Trae Waynes still not a starter in Minny 2014 #8 Justin Gilbert can't even find a job now, many say he just wanted the money and DGAF 2013 #9 Dee Milliner flamed out and cannot get a job either #12 DJ Hayden, Raiders didnt even pick up his 5th year, one year deal in Detroit to try again 2012 # 6 Claiborne you all know, more the injury bug but still Dallas said no more after 5 years. Trying on a one year deal with NYJ

We are acting as if Butler is a can't miss....There have been as many FA flops as draft bust...LINK

IMO Butler is a system guy and if the Seahawks would have RAN the ball, No one here would even know who Butler is.

Thanks guys.....LINK
This article makes it seem as if there is a huge difference in 3rd and 4th round money.

quote:

Once a player falls past the third round, most draft picks will sign a 4-year deal in the $2.3-2.4 million range. The only major difference late in the draft is the signing bonus, ranging from $300,000-500,000 in the fourth round
Isn't the guaranteed money in 4th substantially lower than 3rd?
Maybe a little over your head there....if 4th round contracts are not guaranteed, then you can take a chance a player with "character issues" like Joe Mixon or health concerns like Sidney Jones.
Is it correct that 4th round contracts are not guaranteed and we would only be moving back 5 spots
I hope we stay far far away from him....I thought that even before his 40 time. He is not a "locker room" guy.

Have an eerie feeling that Barnett, Thomas, and Taco go before our pick. Don't really like being the team to take a corner that high usually, but Lattimore is well worth it. There are worthy pass rushers in the 1st to warrant not trading up.

This would be a doomsday scenario for us....

I like Desmond King(@FS) personally.....Not sure he makes it to the 3rd round, and I do not believe CSP will Draft 3 Defensive players with 11, 32, 42. He is definitely going to take a WR/TE/RB with 42.

I think we go DE @ 11 and CB/LB @ 32
If we trade next years 1st round to move up and get Garrett (probably won't be enough) or even trade next years, whatever pick (2/3) to get Thomas or Barnett, Then I would say that we are going all in for this year.

I am not proposing that we do this, but these actions will show that this is an all in year.
