Frankly, if I have LF, then my team is gonna be a running team.
But, our offense is completely devoid of certain elements that just boggle the mind.
If you want to loosen the linebackers who keep stuffing your run, single receiver fly routes do jack shite for that.
If the pass rush is eating your arse, quick slants, screens and WR screens are the typical response.
I could go on, but the point is, we seem to do NONE of the standard things you'd expect in response to defenses and worse, we ALWAYS enter games seemingly oblivious to the other team's demonstrated weaknesses.
This has gone back for a long time. I can still recall facing an AU team with an absolutely awful pass defense and JR at QB.............and Miles ran ground and pound. It was as if Miles was completely unaware of AU's film.
I get that you do what you're good at, but you can't be fricking obtuse about it and Miles has ALWAYS been obtuse about it.

OC's come here to bring about a bad end to their careers. I agree none of the good ones want to work for Miles at this point.
Contemplate that Miles last few hires have been
OC = Friend
DC = Low Demand Settle Job
STC = Friend who has failed at every job he's had for 10 years
Don't you think for a minute this is an accident.

I think around $1 million would be the budget, which would likely be close to double what he's the guy is making now and would make him the highest paid OC
This is silly. We'd be able to find another OC given it is done early enough. Most of your points are silly.
Kevin Steele makes $1M. This represents at least a $250K pay raise from the salary of virtually every non-SEC defensive coordinator in the nation. In most cases, it represents DOUBLE their salary.
And yet, we hired a guy who absent us hiring him, wouldn't have a top 40 DC job this year.
Me thinks you underestimate factors other than straight cash in the job hunt for these guys.

Cam Cameron is getting $1.5 million. The next highest OC is getting $950k.. The 10th highest is making $600k.
So, are you sincerely under the impression that if that were to happen, the admin would throw as much $$ at the next guy that they were throwing at Cam?
I would seriously doubt that we would pay another guy $1.5 million if Miles shits the bed further.

Yea, why would anyone want to be the highest paid OC in football Dumb
If you could make 200K next year but the company was in danger of going out of business the following year, or, get hired by a stable company making $175K, you might just well take the 2nd job.

Yeah. Reality is, Miles has reached that very unenviable coaching point. He CANNOT hire his way out of this mess. He's radioactive from the point of view of a prospective OC or DC standpoint. He literally couldn't upgrade those if he tried short of throwing a huge pile of money at someone. And, the admin isn't going to allow that either for obvious reasons.
He's got to save himself. Alas, his last swing at it brought us Steele and frickING PEVETO!!!
God Help us in 2016 if Miles has to hire an OC.

Yeah, that's why. Definitely not because Chavis left after most of the available DC's had signed on elsewhere
Are you under the impression that the only DCs who are "available" are currently unemployed DCs?
I mean, was Chavis "available" in December?

I'm pretty sure that if Miles had been an Army general in the musket era, he'd have been like.........."frick those flanking movements.........we have the better Army..........all we need to do is shoot the best".
Meanwhile, the other Army shoots all his guys in the back.
Stop Worrying about Cam's status

That dude ain't going anywhere unless he quits.
I mean, why fire him at this point. No half decent OC is going to sign on with Miles at this point. Especially with it readily obvious that Miles is no longer rock solid stable.
I mean, no one wanted to admit it, but that's why we settled last year for DC. We ended up hiring a guy who was in no danger of being hired anywhere else worth a shite.

Well, um of course he "progressed" thus far. I mean, we treated him like a parapalegic for the first 4 games. I literally never thought I'd live to see the day again when an LSU coach was scared shitless to let his QB throw against Syracuse and Eastern Michigan.
If someone forced me to bet my paycheck today, I'd bet on Franks being gone.

Miles philosophy is funny because if it really were true that you merely had to "block the play well" and there was little else involved, then there would barely even be a need for a coach on game day.
Nope. Just line up and run em over.
You'd pay coaches like $100K in that world.
He gets paid to do a LOT better than just hope we outman teams.

Yup.
If Miles were hired at TCU tomorrow, they would got to shite with a quickness.
What I can't figure out about our offense among many other things
Posted by TheRightMan on 11/16/15 at 11:59 pm
is this.
Sort of standard operating procedure for dealing with teams that are blowing your OL up is to run quick passes and screens. Just prior to the half against Arky, we did that.
Honestly, I was like, "holy frick, I sincerely didn't even think that shite was even in our playbook!!!"
It's just weird. I mean, you have literally never watched a football game in your life where a team was getting a huge rush where the analyst didn't comment about how the offense would have to take shorter drops and run plays to slow the DL down. When you watch LSU, it's as if we have never even heard of the concept.
The same goes for in games like Alabama. Their LBs were completely selling out to fill so even on the occasions that LF was able to split the DL, there was a LB right there waiting for him. Watch the tape. Those LBs were playing the run as if our QB had a broken right arm.
Now quick. What are you SUPPOSED to do when LBs are playing you like that? Does a deep one man route pass have any effect upon LB play? Nope. Again, we did NOTHING all game that even attempted to react to what Bama was doing.
That's the fundamental problem with Miles.
The man takes the "we do what we do" mantra to an absurd level. frick man. Even mediocre coaches try to take advantage of matchups manipulate matchups in their favor. Miles' entire approach to offense is literally, "my guys have to be better than your guys or we're just gonna suck".
It's baffling.

Cmon. I think even the pumpers are honest enough to admit that if we were doing a coaching search today having lost some other coach, and our admin hired Miles, we'd all be pissed as frick.
The man wouldn't be in demand at any school remotely on LSU's level. He ain't leaving this place for another job.

Honestly, it's always a bit of a guess. Some up and comers arrive and flame out at the top level.
But, if I hate to bet on someone being the next guy, I'm thinking Fuente.

Russell and Flynn played at LSU when Franks was 11 and younger. They might as well be YA Tittle. Mett is all he can remember and tart was year sandwiched between a series of shite shows

quote:Frankly, if he signs with LSU, you really have to question if he's got a good head on his shoulders. There is NOTHING one can glean from having watched LSU to make a QB want to come here.
Firing the HC or OC is the one thing that will guarantee he will.
But, you're right. If either are gone, so will he. I get that.
It's sort of a glass half empty situation either way. Miles stinks. I really can't speak to if Cam stinks because frankly, the pathetic approach to offense predates him.
Besides, like I said. Firing Cam would be stupid. No good OC in his right mind would sign on with Miles right now.
