Teams that score a lot of points have good offenses. I believe that is something that bears out, especially if you are using team totals in a historical sense. I'm sure there are exceptions, but it's how I judge a team's offensive performance. If last year, the Heat score 100 ppg and the Pacers 90 ppg, wouldn't you just assume that the Heat have a better offense? Would you really have to go to the next level to determine that?

I always looked at points per possession as a measure of the efficiency of an offense not necessarily the offenses ability to score. Like with us I could expect a 130 point game any night, but the way we get to that amount of points may be by taking less efficient shots and getting hot and making all of them. As opposed to a team like last years pacers at the 90ppg example you used, again this is all hypothetical numbers, they may not have the ability to put up as many points but their offense is much more efficient in the way they get those 90 ppg, so, hypothetically, they have an adjusted 103 points per 100 possessions over us who might have a 101 points per 100 possessions

So the point I'm trying to make, is That I agree with you in that ppg is a better metric for a good offense than points per 100 possession. And that points per possession is a better metric for the efficiency of an offense

Wonder if Steve Nash is gonna do the hot new thing like his buddy's Jason Kidd and Derek fisher. Could you see him coaching and implementing that offense that he ran with Stoudemire with jrue and AD? Imagine the points
I like having Austin as a backup 2 guard much much more than a backup PG, average to good defense against opposing bench players and a decent spot up three. He just can't set up an offense for shite.

We put a lineup of mekel/rivers/Cunningham/Ryno/ajinca out there, I could live with that for 10-12 min a game

Obviously some problems with it, but could still be serviceable if mekel is as adept at setting up teammates as people say. Big question mark for me though, is Monty good enough to be creative with the playing style to make it work, and that's yet to be seen IMO
We came into this season expecting the brick hands and lack of offense, we even had rocket fans (other than boom) post in here and tell us how great he is at rebounding and defense but he is super frustrating on offense. We knew what to expect, some people just jump on a bandwagon and don't know why we got/needed asik and it's mainly those people that I talk to that complain about him. When I talk with friends who have been fans for a while we all say it's frustrating and what not but we expect it, to us it's not a surprise, just a reality to deal with, like deandre Jordan and free throws, or dwade and three pointers, it's just something that's not gonna happen
So would this be Monty's lineup and bench now?

Jrue/mekel/Russ
Reke/rivers/jimmer
Cunningham/Babbitt/salmons
AD/Ryno
Asik/Ajinca/Withey

Or does Ryno start? Babbitt? Or does river start and move reke to the 3?

Either way, already looks better, I think rivers could possibly play better when he doesn't have the added pressure of setting up the offense
In Demps we trust!

:nana:

I still have the suspicion/hope that the salmons 2 mil signing is for a future trade idea, like the Melvin ely signing late last season
Pels 94
Warriors 89

Asik goes ham with 18 rebounds and 3 blocks and makes over 50% of his free throws

AD is already (at 21) wrecking this league.

FIFY
Anyone else at the game watching asik practice his free throws?

He's missed almost all of them hahaha
At least give us some fries!!

Pels 101
Okc 100

And Monty is wearing a puke green suit with some ugly pattern on it
Yeah I'm always surprised to see him responding, makes me think that he has someone handle it for him
Lookin like a boss!

Glad to see Monty's suit game didn't rub off on AD haha

I always park on the streets around rouses
Even though he didn't hit his shots he still was taking smart ones (except two drives iirc). He kept getting open catch and shoot threes, which he hit at a great rate last year, and his one midrange shot was in the flow of the game.

His defense was good tonight too
Pels 122
Hawks 107

Team looks sluggish in first half but they work off the turkey weight and come out strong in the second half haha

Anyone watching the game out in Nola?

You think fans outside of texas/OKC wouldn't watch Dallas, Houston, SAS, and OKC play it out?

I think they would, millions of people already watch the western and Eastern conference finals so why wouldn't they want to watch the best possible compitition going at it in the finals even if it is all in the same geographic area.

It ensures that the best play the best. Isn't that the purpose of playoffs in the first place?

I love the idea, I would love seeing playoff series of clippers and wizards or raptors and warriors. How great would that be?!

I think that starts with Davis being under the weather.

Was AD sick?

Why the frick doesn't Ryno take our technicals when he's on the court? No way Jrue is a better free throw shooter.

Jrue is 93.9% from the line this season, before that miss he was at least. 79.0% from his career.

Ryno is 76.5 for the season and 85.6 for career

guess monty went with the hotter free throw hand, if that's a thing haha

Q: How do you prep for an opponent defensively? Do you do a lot of research or at this point have you played enough to where you just kind of know guys? JH: I think you know guys. Coaches give you stats where they get most of their shots, where they like it and things like that. You can't stop the top players but you can slow them down. I think it's a team thing. I think that's one of the biggest things where our team defense is getting really good, where we're not giving up as many threes in the corner, and really loading in the paint, where if you have someone like Carmelo or Ty Lawson or whoever, they see more than one guy. And the way we're rotating right now, it's fun. It's fun to play defense.

Love the end of this quote

It's fun to play defense.

It seems like so many players slack on that end these days so it feels good to see this kind of attitude coming from our top players
