My 19yo son was pumping gas at the Shell gas station at Bluebonnet/Perkins at 7pm last night. Car pulls in next to him and 2 thugs get out, one carrying an assault rifle and walked into the store with it. My son jumped in his car and rolled out. He called the police and after being on hold for several minutes, was told “you do know that it’s not illegal, right.” No comments like “thanks for calling, we’ll look into it.” I understand the legalities of open carry and all, but is this just the new norm around south Baton Rouge?

I don’t know if she’s coming or not, but her mom lives in Hammond. She is getting to the age of needing assistance. Her dad also lives in Hammond but they don’t have a speaking relationship.
