I just got off the phone with my buddy who lives in Belle Chasse and he said the exact same thing -- food is way too salty.
Well if you're a crab lover I highly recommend the crab buffet at Silver Slipper. It's top-notch, and not too expensive. Plus if you sign up for a free player's card you get an additional discount with it. Last time I went a couple years ago it was only $17.95 with my card. Might want to call first and make sure they still have it.

Meh, I could care less about politics. They're all crooks if you ask me. If it tastes good, I'm gonna eat it.
Tell me more about this "Zydeco" in Boutte.

I usually go to House of Seafood in Bush if I want to gorge myself, even though the quality isn't all that great. I've also been to White's in Husser which has a pretty decent buffet. For AYCE crabs my go-to is Silver Slipper in Bay St. Louis -- it's awesome and can't be beat, imo. However I've never heard of Zydeco.

I'm usually not a Blue Bell fan because the quality does not compare to B&J and some other brands... but this Lemon Bliss is on-point
The food isn't too great but the drinks are on-point

Those Painkillers they serve are guaranteed panty-droppers

Lots of drunken fratstars and wanna-be socialite divas out back

FWIW fried zucchini >>> fried eggplant
Their pizza reminds me of the pizza you can get at Don Carter's bowling alley. Premade crunchy crust, sauce out of a can, with toppings thrown on.

Agreed. Best hogshead cheese I've ever had, as well.
Just watch out for this guy

T-Jim's in Cottonport? They are my favorite, as well. Only question is, why are their boudin links so pathetic-looking? Do they not have someone who knows how to properly inject the boudin into the casing?
FWIW, for my $ The Chimes has the best rb poboy in BR, and they always give me extra gravy when I ask.

I like it a lot, because I prefer a more liver-y boudin. I also used to like Mowata Store but haven't been in a few years -- what happened to it?

Heck of a coincidence -- I just happened to be wearing my Fred's t-shirt when I came across this thread. Below is a pic of the back of the shirt

I have many fond memories of Fred's as well as the Purple Peacock in Eunice.
I've been to Pastime twice, simply because the boudin pizza sounded intriguing. I'm all about retro/throwback places; I love the old-school feel of places like that, like you've been transported to the past. Unfortunately, the pizza was some of the blandest, most nondescript pizza I've ever eaten (seriously, what's up w/ that crust?). After my first visit, several years passed, yet I continued to hear people praise the place, so I decided to give them another chance. Big mistake. The pizza was the same bland crap that I'd had on my first visit. My only conclusion was that the fans of this place are primarily people who like it for nostalgia purposes and have fond memories of eating there when they were growing up. That being said, I don't think that many adults who have never been there before and who didn't grow up eating there would think it was very good.

And funny how Smiley compares Pastime to Mother's -- another totally overhyped garbage place
