Thanks for the feedback. I think the travel time is gonna for sure be the deal breaker for Thailand. And the fact that this board has done nothing but sing Switzerlands praises.

Flying in to Milan MXP is ok, but do everything you can not to fly out of there headed back to the states - sounds like you aren't so no worries, but it is terrible for leaving Italy.
