Hi all, will be in New Orleans for a mini getaway for about 4 days, starting this weekend. I'll be staying at a hotel near the convention center and need ideas for fun and entertaining things to do with a 7month old boy. Planning on buying the Audubon pass, but not sure what else there is to do in the area. Any help is appreciated.

Also ideas for dining would also be a huge help, "reasonable" $20-35 per person meals where it won't ruin anyone's experience if he happens to get a little fussy (hes a great baby but will make me a liar on occasion).

The aquarium and insectarium might be fun w/a lil nipper, and the weather's gonna be a bit cool this weekend. So those inside venues might be more fun than the open air zoo.

Covention center/downtown area eats that are baby friendly & in your price range:
--Cochon Butcher
--St. James Cheese Co
Slightly farther away but kid-friendly: Pizzeria Bonci, Company Burger

Barcadia during the day is a decent spot with burgers etc. that where your kid can do whatever they want and no one will care.

With the weather being cold this weekend keep in mind you can go from the convention center almost all the way to the aquarium inside the riverwalk.

Two Chicks across the street from the Convention Center is a good, close breakfast spot. Crepes, omelets, pancakes and parfaits, fresh juices, bloody Marys.

It's hard but better than nothing.

We did Seattle with a 7 month old and did a good hike.

I'm hoping this gets him used to his sort of thing

Lol well Mrs. Fly has a work conference and separation anxiety so I figured I'd take a few days off and enjoy myself. Today was pretty easy, aquarium and the riverwalk kept his attention, he was fascinated with the Fudgery. Besides, it took us over 9 years to get our son here, so I won't ever complain about a little fussiness.

Thanks hungryone for the suggestion on St. James, was a big hit with the Mrs. Going to try to hit up Cochon tomorrow, that Sazerac cocktail they had sounds right up my alley.

Please note that Cochon the sit down restaurant is completely separate from the much more casual Cochon Butcher next door.

Thanks. Meant the butcher. Looked up the setup and actually ended up walking by it today. If you were to pick the top two sandwiches what would you go with? They all looked pretty good

They’re all pretty tasty. Bacon melt, BLT, crispy pork belly, Cubano......and check out the specials, too.
