What to do in Ft. Lauderdale?

Heading to ft lauderdale to go cruising in the coming weeks on Royal Caribbean ship. We will be arriving there a day or 2 before departure. Just wondering if anyone has been and has any tips about what beaches you liked, things to do besides going to the beach, and any restraunt recommendations.

Most of the higher end restaurants, bars and shopping are located inland a little bit on Las Olas Blvd. On the way there are some really beautiful neighborhoods with canal alleys where everyone has huge yachts. We did a hop on hop off bus tour in Miami which gives you a good overview of the Miami area. The main headquarters is located at the cruise ships.
