Weekend in Oman

Have a few days to kill in Oman, any recs? Weekend will be bookended by Muscat. Thanks

The fort and the souk in Muscat are pretty cool.
Weekend maybe better spent flying down to sallalah. I never been but it seemed like it would be cool to see an oasis on a desert.

Lived there for a year. Beautiful place and still authentic relative to Abu Dhabi or Dubai.
Rent a car and head to Wadi Shab or
Nizwa. In Muscat, go snorkeling at Marjan beach (would see sea turtles regularly). Go dune bashing in the Wahiba sands. A weekend isn’t enough to see it all, but you won’t be bored.

Thank you. I agree with what you said in your comparison w UAE. Based on my last 2 day trip I was impressed by the authenticity of the city and the people.
I will look at what you, and the other poster, suggested and give it a go.
