Looking for a summer destination within driving distance of SWLA. 3 kids under 10.
We just did Broken Bow and enjoyed it a lot. Looking for a house/cabin with nice views and on lake/river where we can canoe, hike, swim, maybe visit caverns, etc.
Any particular places in Arkansas y’all would recommend? I was also told to check out Lake Travis in TX.

Floating the Buffalo National River along with a visit Blanchard Springs Caverns near Mountain View ,Arkansas. It’s only $16 for the most amazing underground adventure ever. . My kids still get excited when they tell people about that place.

We rented a cabin on the White River just south of the Bull Shoals state park last summer. We trout fished in the White River and rented a pontoon boat and pulled a tube in the Bull Shoals Resevoir for fun days. Highly recommend. Gastons is a full guide service and outfitter on the white river. Also highly recommend.

What kind of lodging did you stay in?

There isn't any brick & mortar lodging ON the river since it's protected. We tent camped at one of the National Park Campgrounds directly on the river. If you can make that happen, that's the best experience.
Buffalo Outdoor Center in Ponca has some cabins to rent that are just outside the park boundary. They're also who we used for the kayak rental.
