AirBnB GCs (which never expire) are on sale for 9% off on ebay, so I'd load up on those.

Also, Hotels.com GCs are on sale on Amazon for 20% off.

I appreciate all of the advice. I'm taking tomorrow off, and the wife & I will start to plan excursions, tours, air bnb, hotels, and most importantly food.

We are half-way through our trip, still have 1 week to go and we are just now to Greve. I will be posting a huge update to my other thread with tons of recommendations for Rome, Florence, and Tuscany.

It has been epic so far - eating and drinking like kings.

If you ate a bad meal in Rome.....

We only made it to half of our places and they were all fantastic.

Are yall big on museums? My wife and I are real big believers in "do as the Romans do". Our trips focus on food, drinking, relaxing, and experiencing the culture. We try to do 1 museum or cultural thing per day.

We don't live and die by them. Some of my favorite days on trips were free days where we did as locals.

I didn't say we had a bad meal in Rome. However the food overall in northern Italy is vastly superior overall to the food in Rome.

Wow! Lot of planning . Gonna be pooped. IMO if you go to italy and omit Venice that is a mistake. Amalfi is beautiful area Capri is a daytrip not to miss. Naples itself not worth it. Would rather spend more time in sorrento or up north portifino or cinque terra. Better yet 2 days in venice and leave from marco polo airport. In florence remember thAt museum closed on monday. Buy tickets in advance. If u dont u will stand in long lines.

Better idea. Book a rick steves tour and let him book everything. We took his tour last april and it was FANTASTIC. Hotels great. Food great. No lines. Price great. U will see what is important to see and learn from his guides.

When we were there back in 2007, we took a private tour with Tom Shaker and we basically walked Rome (starting by the Vatican) and he gave us the grand tour with all kinds of information. It was fantastic, probably the best thing we did the entire time we were there.

He is "local" who was born in Ohio, graduated from Michigan and now has lived in Rome since 2000.
