Looking at renting a house in the sapodilla beach area.

Never been to T&C.

Since we are renting a house we will have to buy food for our stay and go to restaurants.

Questions:
Travel method on island (rental cars or taxi)?
Grocery stores?
Restaurant recs?
Recreation recs?
Any other recs?
Thanks

Taxis are expensive there. I’d rent a car if I was staying in a house. Driving on the other side of the road is easy. Just think before you enter a roundabout.

There are groceries. Beer is very expensive.

Great restaurants on the island. If you’re fortunate you’ll get a reservation at Coco Bistro. I also enjoy Bay Bistro and Mango Cafe. Shark Bite at the marina has very solid bar food. Others like Da Conch Shack but I’m allergic to conch so I haven’t been there.

Take the ferry to North Caicos. Rent a car and drive to Middle Caicos. Go to Bambara Beach and Dragon Caye. Dragon Caye is the prettiest little beach you’ll ever see. Tons of flamingos on a middle Caicos and there’s a cave system there as well.

Enjoy! Providenciales is one of my favorite islands.

Thanks!!

I thought of a few more:

Is the island safe overall?
What is the currency?

Very safe.

US dollar is the currency.

I would highly suggest renting a car.

I can’t remember the name, but there’s a large grocery store near the Grace Bay area. Just beware, groceries are very expensive there!

Restaurant recs: Coco Bistro, Da Conch Shack, Kalooki’s, Pelican Bay, Jack’s Fountain.

You have to do the Fish Fry on Thursday night. They have a very nice golf course that was recently renovated. Turks Head brewery makes some good brews with a decent little taproom.

Turks is awesome and very safe. Enjoy!

We rented a car. Echo watching out for Roundabouts.

Food is EXPENSIVE. IGA is probably the cheapest.

Infiniti Bar

Drinks/watch sunset.

Bugaloos

Lunch/Brunch? Past airport, so about 30m drive.

Kalookis

We went here twice (at least to the old location in Blue Hills before it was destroyed)

Mr. Groupers

Best seafood we had. Close for you. Not much ambiance, but local and reasonably priced.

Potcake Place

Go walk some strays on the beach! In the village. Not that far away.

I went for a club trip at work and will echo some stuff here. Beautiful, super safe, expensive. We ate at coco bistro and loved it as well, and the golf course is really fun but can be super windy.

Presidente is a Dominican beer that is pretty good for the beach and available there as well
