Lodges you say! Well, if you end up doing the Banff thing, then drive up to Emerald Lake Lodge! Probably the best we ever stayed in. Plenty of hiking, fishing options.

Boy are there some nice places being suggested
I am going back there!!!we only were there a day for business

I remember walking on the glacier in the area and saying if I was ever on a glacier again I was going to bring a little plane bottle of scotch and chip out some glacier ice and have a drink
“That would be some serious H2O”

What about a lighthouse on an island in the middle of Sitka Sound?

you can whale watch and fish from the island.

Sitka is one of the coolest and prettiest towns in the country. About 8k population, on an island which is wilderness. Lots of bears, whales, hot springs. Tons of little bays and inlets that are incredible.

On the opposite side of the island is the best hot springs I've ever experienced. Baranof Warm Springs Bay. Huge waterfall comes down into the bay, and a series of natural hot springs are right beside the river.

Moraine Lake Lodge. It’s nice and very expensive this time of year.

Pick whatever floats your boat but I would advise that trips geared towards nature and scenery need to heavily factor in the weather. Go to mountains in the summer, tropical environments in the winter. Southern Hemisphere means seasons are reversed. And if you plan to hit an US National Parks (or Banff) then you need to plan and book well in advance. Admissions to National Parks has doubled in the past decade and local infrastructure hasn't changed. I'm learning this the hard way.

I love mountains in the summer
I do not ski but love ice and snow leftover from winter
Love spending the Fourth of July in Breckinridge around Maggie’s pond

Yeah I want to go to some of the national parks out west but hear stories about how crowded etc

I will have to look into that and since retired I can avoid summer vacation season at least
Washington state and surrounding area has me real interested. Never been there and those suggestions earlier look real nice

But once football basketball gymnastic start I pretty much move back to Baton Rouge to mix in some others women’s sports and now blends into beach volley ball and baseball
