Scottish Trains - 1st class vs other class

Is there a huge difference in first class vs other class when training around Scottland? When in Italy, I always did first class.

Only did first class while there, but I can tell you it was ‘that’ nice so would hate to see others

For me it would depend on the price difference and how long the journey was. I've done first in Italy, Spain, and from Amsterdam to Paris. I've done regular in the UK. Regular was fine so I'm not going to pay much extra for a bigger seat and maybe a meal considering you can bring your own (and probably better) food and drinks on.
