Anyone have much experience here? Was looking for advice on which side of Puerto Rico to stay and was also wanting to spend several days on Culebra so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I just left Puerto Rico and culebra. The main beach in culebra is awesome. Depends on what you want out of the trip but I flew from San Juan airport to culebra for the day. That was plenty of time for me. The other alternative is drive for a hour and a half to where the ferry is and take the ferry which I think is 45 min each way. You can also fly out from the airport that is near the ferry which is cheaper than from San Juan.
I have also been to vieques on a different trip and stayed the night there. It is a larger island and has a few more things to see, with the bioluminescence bay probably being the top of the list. Maybe look into that and hit both islands. Vieques also has the black sand beach which is a cool thing to see. Also vieques has a shite load of horses that roam freely and is fun to see.
Also if you are in old San Juan look up el parque de la Paloma’s. Great spot to chill for a while.
