Check your rental agreement...it may specifically state you cannot cross the border.

Stayed at the same place, around the same week, a few years ago. Plan most things around the park and make sure to get your Going to The Sun Road passes when they come available. I expected to be underwhelmed by that drive, just from hearing so much about it, but it's incredible. Spend some time on the E side as well.
Definitely take an afternoon and drive up to Polebridge - very cool spot. We didn't bother trying to go into Canada - been there plenty already.
