Problem with that email is that you are depending on the airlines to enforce it. I’d jump thru every hoop possible to get the passport. The airlines might decide to follow the rules shown on the State dept website and not let her on the plane to go on the trip.

Good point. Airline compliance is the upfront Gatekeeper. Policies of Schengen Area Countries are secondary. But if you can't get in there...

Thank you for asking.

Right now, given the timeline, and potential risks, we've decided against trying to mail it and she's contacted her Senator. They've set up an appointment for her in November in Seattle. We're working on a flight there on the way with an extended layover so she can go get it done. Supposedly, at the Passport Center, they can print on premises.

I was asking because I had seen a advertisement on FlyerTalk Forums. I’m not pushing the service as I have never used it nor have any financial interest in it.

Thanks! That's a lot of money. Plus I've never read where these 3rd parties can do more than you could do yourself. Maybe they can. Don't know.

I sent my passport in early this month (received on Oct 7th, I believe) and already got my new one today. No expedited service used. Pretty shocked.

Go to a passport office or reschedule trip.

Look into the nearest Passport Office. Not the post office ...

I lived in St Louis and screwed around until one week before leaving for Belgium on a business trip. Hopped in the car, drove to Chicago and walked out with a new passport within four hours. My Passport had expired, but because I had the old one and all of my paperwork ...Easy trip. If you like sitting in a receiving lobby with forty other poor souls needing to get out of Chicago fast.

The closest one for her is in Seattle. Here local Senator's staff (in Oregon) has a working relationship with that office. They set up an appointment for her. Otherwise, there'd have been longer delays. We researched the crap out of it and that was the best way we could find. And rescheduling this trip (which was rescheduled from last year) wasn't going to be an option.
