One night in Savannah on way to Kiawah ...

any advice would be appreciated ... it'll be one night (Sat) on my way to Kiawah for golf, and might stay one night on the return ... kind of going off of this list right now ... not interested in hitting "must see" places, though i'll probably check out the cemetery ... city market a decent place to hang out for some decent food and drinks? ... looking to chill for the evening and not party ...

River Street is kind of tourist trappy.
Bonaventure is awesome. Forsyth Park is a good place to hit up. The Mercer Williams house is a must see. It's supposedly haunted too.
Check out Jones Street. It's been voted the most beautiful street in the country. Mrs. Wilkes Boarding Room is there too and has excellent southern food.
Le Cafe Gourmet is a great little French restaurant that has really good sandwiches and pastries that we like to get to go and take to Forsyth Park for picnicking. It's owned by a French couple and the wife works there full time.
Vinnie Van Go-Go's is a great place for Pizza and beer.
The last time we were there, we took the Got Ghosts ghost tour. The guy who does the tour used to have his own ghost show on tv and gives a really good rundown of the history of Savannah during the tour.
Leopolds has some of the best ice cream that you'll ever have. There's a line, even right before closing.
All of the old squares are really interesting to stroll through. A ton of history.
There's a really interesting model ship museum, Ships Of The Sea Maritime Museum, on MLK (Not a bad part of the city where the museum is.) It has massive model ships.

No problem.
We really enjoyed the tour that we went on. He did a great job of talking about the history of Savannah and how it is, quite literally, the city built on it's dead. When they tear up the streets to do work, they still find human remains and stuff. Still human remains buried under the squares and such as well.

Good ideas so far
Smaller cemetery on Oglethorpe is cool to walk around too
If looking only at downtown and historic district:
Rocks on the Roof or Top Deck are rooftop bars right on the river. Great sunsets and ship watching.
Crystal Beer Parlor for good food and beer selection.
Flying Monk Noodle Bar for Pho, etc.
Kayak Cafe for good lighter healthy fare
Treylor Park for really interesting menu
Savannah Coffee Roasters for morning
Or Coffee Fox
Outside downtown:
Green Truck for burgers
80e on Tybee is fantastic
I have a ton more.
Email me at kabl7521@ gee mail if you want more ideas.
