The Paris is in an excellent location and would be a good place to stay if cost is a major factor. Otherwise I would rather spend a little more and stay at other places nearby such as Caesar’s or the Venetian or Bellagio across the street.

100%! If you've never been, stay center Strip. Paris is the most economical choices, but I'd choose Caesar's or the Bellagio if possible. The Cosmopolitan Veranda room view is amazing but probably pricy. Your wife will probably love the Bellagio fountains and also the Conservatory inside the Bellagio. So staying near it is good and she can see the fountains more often.

Here's my list of tips for 1st time visitors.

1. Walk the Strip. Pop into casinos and look around. Drop a $20 in slots all along the way. Sign up for their players cards.
2. Have drinks in a cool bar. Relax and people watch! I love the Chandelier Bar at the Cosmo, Petrossian at the Bellagio, Beer Park at Paris, Bar Parasol at the Wynn. Just walk around and see what looking interesting.
3. See Vegas from up high. There’s lot of options. I think discount tickets can usually be found for the High Roller. Foundation Room, Skyfall, Ghostbar, 108 Drinks. The 108 Drinks does require you pay for a trip up to the top, which makes it not nearly as good a deal as it used to be.
4. Fremont Street. See the old hotels and pop into some places for a little cheaper table games or better odds. The El Cortez is sort of a dive, but it’s got great blackjack rules. See the Golden Nugget, the 4 Queens, Binions, etc. and all that neon and flash. See the show under the canopy. If you’ve been to Bourbon St., Fremont is sort of similar.
5. See a show. It could be a Cirque extravaganza, a concert, a play/musical, a tribute show. Just pick what you like.
6. Make a reservation and have a really nice dinner. Options abound. Don’t do your dinner the night you do the show. That way, you’re not rushed.
7. If it’s summer, have a pool day.
8. See the Bellagio Fountains and Conservatory.
