I am thinking of taking my wife on a trip for our 20th anniversary in February. I was thinking about going to an all inclusive resort in the Caribbean. I have never been to an all inclusive so I am looking for suggestions. Also, I am not sure which islands are still messed up from the hurricane so I will need to know which are good to go and which to stay away from.

Not a fan of all inclusives. Food is generally mediocre/average (though abundant), you're stuck in a place with a whole slew of people not of your own choosing, and the fact that you've paid for an all inclusive tends to discourage most ppl from going outside the resort and exploring. So consider whether an all inclusive is really for you, since you've made it thru 20 years of marriage without visiting one.

All-Inclusives have their place. I understand your point.

IF You are looking for a strictly relaxing vacay where you do not want to leave the resort, then by all means. Do your research because some will definitely have better food and service than others. Every once in awhile I like a trip like that where I can just shut the ole brain off and lounge around a pool with the wife.

This is exactly what I am looking for. Just need some recommendations on places.

Here's a list of their top 10. I would just do some research.

I have been to one on this list, the Zoetry Agua in the DR. At the time it was much more a boutique hotel with only 50 rooms. The views were great and the food was the best I've ever had at an all inclusive. It was truly pretty gourmet food at the time.

They have expanded since then so I can't comment. Get a 2nd floor beach front bungalow if you can.
